How to change your habits and avoid laziness?

In my previous article: Tips on how to get rid of laziness and be active, I gave you some tips on how to overcome laziness. In this article, I am going to give you tips on building healthy and persistent habits to remove laziness completely from your life.

Laziness is not a genetic or a personality disorder. You are lazy because of your habits. To avoid laziness, you can watch motivational videos, use effective tips like the ones I am about to provide you, talk to a consultant, or read inspirational books. But, like the scent of a perfume, motivation doesn’t last for a long time. It is only a man’s persistent habits that make him stand his ground when there is no motivation or incentive.

So for a bright future and a healthy lifestyle, you need healthy habits.

These are some habits of lazy and unsuccessful people that you must avoid:

  • Making excuses.
  • Not defining exactly what you want in life.
  • Giving up after one try.
  • Not keeping up promises.
  • Wasting time with friends.
  • Not taking action towards your goal.
  • Not learning new things.
  • Wasting time on the Internet.
  • Sitting idol all day.
  • Putting your work on tomorrow and not doing it today.

The reason is that the people who can afford them aren’t sitting around watching television, they are working hard, day in and day out to buy those supercars.

Even if you are lazy, there is no need to worry, you can easily overcome your laziness by following the tips I am about to provide you. In fact, you should be proud of yourself because at least you are making efforts to try and overcome your laziness, not just giving in to this deadly habit like many others do.

These are the three tips which will help you develop healthy habits. It takes 21 days to make or break a habit so have patience and be consistent.

Never make excuses:

The biggest problem with lazy people is that they always make an excuse if they fail to complete or start a task.

Some of the common excuses lazy people make when they fail are:

  1. I don’t have money.
  2. I don’t have power.
  3. Luck never favors me.
  4. My parents are not supportive.
  5. I don’t get any opportunities.

Excuses are easy, anyone can make it. Remember, ‘Excuses are for losers, winner give results.‘

Making an excuse is a prime indication of laziness. Many people burn their energy making up excuses about why they were not able to complete their work. Instead of burning their energy in making up excuses they should use this energy in more productive work which will bring better results for them.

 

2 Never use the term ‘should I?’

Whenever you say ‘should I do this? or should I do that?’ then you have already lost your battle against laziness.

Whenever you use the term ‘should I?’ you give your subconscious mind an indication that the work you want to do, is not that important to you and you give a reason to your subconscious mind to not do that work. Indirectly, you are giving your subconscious mind your consent and a reason to fail you. Now, whenever you will start that work, you will feel tired already. Even if you fail to do that work then also you will have no guilt about it because your subconscious mind will provide you a reason that the work was not so necessary.

That’s why you should never use the term ‘should I?’, always say ‘I have to do this or do that.’ It will give your subconscious mind a message that the work is extremely important to you. Even if you get tired while doing that work, the subconscious mind will again make you energetic.

 

Love what you do:

This is the biggest secret of living a successful life. People like Narender Modi, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and Mark Zuckerberg work 18 hours a day. They can work for such long hours without getting tired because they love what they do. If you love what you do, then your subconscious mind will always provide you positive thoughts and motivation which will give you the energy to work for long hours without getting tired.

Many people get confused by reading the line, ‘Love what you do’, they think that they only have to do what they love to do but that’s not correct. You just have to love your work, be it any work that you are doing. This practice develops a habit of loving any work you do.
